2019 has been a season of frustration for Lattimore. He’s been the culprit on multiple big plays by opposing offenses, and each of the moments he’s come through with two impressive, leaping interceptions have been wiped out by penalties. It’s time he gets right and plays like his old self. And this game against Cooper will be his best opportunity. Cooper has been battling an ankle injury all week, at one point getting an MRI scan so team doctors could have a better idea of what exactly is ailing him. If he shows up looking sluggish or tentative cutting out into his breaks, Lattimore will have chances to undercut him and make a play on the football.

It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this for Cook, but he hasn’t shown much to excite fans through his first three games. Cook has had serious timing issues with both Bridgewater and Brees, dropping several passes because he turned too soon or too late in his route. It’s probably due to Cook missing critical weeks of practice leading up to the regular season kickoff. He’s had ample time to get up to speed by now, and it’s time he justifies what the Saints invested in him.
